ZL-2416 Soil Strain Type Direct Shear Instrument

This instrument is primarily used to determine the shear strength of soil. Typically, four soil samples are tested. Each sample is subjected to different vertical pressures (selectable from 400 kPa, 300 kPa, 200 kPa, 100 kPa, and 50 kPa), and a horizontal force is applied to induce shear failure. The shear stress at failure is measured, and the shear strength parameters of the soil—the angle of internal friction and cohesion—are determined according to Coulomb’s law.

Features:

  1. The push rod advances by 0.2 mm per revolution of the handwheel, driving the shear box for shearing.  
  2. The shear box specimen has an area of 30 cm² and a height of 20 mm.  
  3. The lever ratio is 1:20. Additional weights include three 1.53 kg weights and two 0.765 kg weights (one of the 0.765 kg weights is placed on the hanging tray). The lever pivot is equipped with a rolling bearing. During horizontal shear force application, the load ring deforms, causing the loading frame to shift. The rolling bearing tracks this movement to prevent frame tilting and avoid changes in vertical pressure orientation.  
  4. The instrument uses a circular load ring with a maximum capacity of 1.2 kN. Rolling bearings are employed for guidance and positioning.
