It is stipulated that the immersion replacement method of Archimedes is used, and the special pycnometer and specific gravity balance are used to accurately read the measured number.
Test Conditions:
In the immersion method, it is very important to select a liquid that does not dissolve the surface of the sample and easily wets the surface of the sample particles.
For ceramic raw materials such as feldspar, quartz and ceramic products, distilled water is generally used as a liquid medium.
For materials that may work, such as cement, organic liquid media such as kerosene or dimethylbenzene can be used.
For inorganic powders, organic solvents are generally used.
When the powder is completely immersed in the liquid, its bubbles must be completely expelled in order to determine the volume it has expelled.
Grind into powder with a porcelain mortar and pass through a 240-mesh standard sieve, put the powder sample into a weighing bottle, put it into a 105 ℃ infrared moisture meter to dry, take it out, cool it slightly, and put it in a desiccator to cool to the room.
Ultrafine powder: According to the research of Bort.M.W. in 1773, the pycnometer method is not suitable for ultrafine powder with particle size less than 5um.
